In a Different Light

Sometimes, it's just little changes around here that make me VERY happy.  I recently made a discovery that has really made a difference in my kitchen, and even here on the recipe blog.  I changed the light bulb. 

I've noticed that on the occasions when I've photographed food in the evening, that the photos turned out really yellow.  I was peeved, and ended up spending a lot of time in Photoshop for not very good results.

Contigo Water Bottles

After seeing a review of Contigo water bottles on Tammy's Recipes last year, I was really interested in getting some for our family.  My sister also purchased some last year for her family, and was very impressed with the quality and contruction as well.  She always had her water bottle with her.  However, the $12-$15 a piece price tag put them in the 'save for' category.   Just after Christmas, I noticed that the style that Tammy reviewed is currently on clearance at Target for $10 or less, ...

I have a confession.

I love the Dollar Tree.

As if the $1 for 12 AA battery deal isn't enough to keep me coming back, I am occasionally drawn in by an item that looks too good to be true.  And for only $1, I can splurge and then not have to kick myself too hard when it hits the bottom of the trashcan.

But this one...this one surprised me!

Colorful Cabinets

I've been posting a lot about the happenings in our bluebird box, so I thought I'd mix things up a bit and post a little favorite spot in my kitchen.  I ♥ Fiesta Ware.  My Mom loves to tell us stories about her Grandma and life on their dairy farm in Iowa when she was a kid.  My Great Grandma has these fun, colorful dishes that my Mom loved as a little girl.  So, when I got married, selecting everyday dishes was an easy choice. 

Affordable? Check.
Heavy duty enough to withstand kids setting ...
