The small girly one on the end there. I was sitting next to her today at lunch, and I smelled a little something-something. So I leaned over quietly and said "Do you need to go potty?" To which she whispered back, "No. I just poof-ted"

My sweetie and I have been married for 16 years. He has lots of great qualities...he is a hard worker, and he washes dishes. He is my personal weather man, and he's almost *always* right in his weather predictions. He's got a brilliant mind...he's the guy you want on your team for Trivial Pursuit. Especially for history and science questions. Sometimes, he even helps with laundry!
See?The thing is, sometimes, I wonder if we both see eye to eye. I, on one hand, am a very detail oriented p... Continue reading...

After a nice holiday break, and then a not-so-nice Flu break for Mom, we're back in the saddle again with homeschooling. This is our second year, and I have to say, there is a lot about homeschooling that has surprised me. I really, really like it. It's a great fit for our family, and I love learning with the kids.
But I didn't expect to have my students passing notes in class. Especially not the facebook style note I intercepted above. Such goofballs! When I ordered the used history bo... Continue reading...

This is another poem by my boy.
He was in a 'poemish' mood, and was looking for inspiration, so I asked
him to write about Annie's Bakery. This is something that the two of
them used to play for hours under the deck or in the woods...where ever
there was a plentiful supply of mud and berries. This is what my boy
wrote for me...
Annie’s Bakery

There is a place in the yard out back
Where you can get a cookie, cake or snack.
They make the best food in town... Continue reading...

a teensie Man-Zilla...too tiny to terrorize My wee tiny baby has grown into a squirming, voracious, gnawing bundle of energy.
Man-zilla lives. He is never still, nor full, nor satisfied with his most recent discovery. There is always more to eat, grab at and explore. I forgot how much of a workout diaper and clothing changes are at this age. Sheesh! My fearless babe now makes a beeline to crawl off the side of the bed, which he does fearlessly; and dangles there upside down, grinning wil... Continue reading...

Here's the deal. I was watching my sisters kids one afternoon, for a head count of two eleven year olds, two eight year olds, a 3 year old, a two year old and a baby. I was skeert. Just a little bit though. As I looked out of the window, I noticed that our elderly and precious neighbors had once again manicured their yard. There was a perfect line demarking their leafless grass from our leaf covered lawn. I struck a deal with the four oldest: rake half the yard, and I'll pay $4 to the las... Continue reading...

Our poet on a bad day. The board says "I hate homeschool because there is nothing fun" My boy is a lover of the written word.
But now, at the tender age of 8, he's begun spontaneously composing poetry out loud, then writing them down in rough drafts and typing them into the computer himself. He adds dedications, and even plays around with fonts. We are impressed! Without further adeiu, here is one of his latest poems, complete with original font selections:
Mr. and Miss M... Continue reading...

We've started into our second year of homeschooling this year. One of the main "issues" (if you will) was to prevent a certain little someone from peeling the drywall off the walls silently while we were studying spelling. The solution that I went with was to put together little baggies of preschool activities...special toys and crafts that she can *only* do in her highchair during school. I wasn't sure how it would go over, because this child...this precious little dumpling, does not like... Continue reading...

The Wicked Doll a true poemOnce upon a time there was a very wicked doll. She hit the baby on the head and drew upon the wall. She wouldn't eat her supper. She peed upon the floor. But when her Mommy went to bed, she wasn't naughty anymore. The end. Continue reading...
