Annie's Bakery

This is another poem by my boy. 

He was in a 'poemish' mood, and was looking for inspiration, so I asked him to write about Annie's Bakery.  This is something that the two of them used to play for hours under the deck or in the woods...where ever there was a plentiful supply of mud and berries.  This is what my boy wrote for me...

He's a Poet...

Our poet on a bad day.  The board says "I hate homeschool because there is nothing fun"

My boy is a lover of the written word.
But now, at the tender age of 8, he's begun spontaneously composing poetry out loud, then writing them down in rough drafts and typing them into the computer himself.  He adds dedications, and even plays around with fonts.  We are impressed!

Tonight, I was pointing out that "I didn't mean to!" is not an acceptable excuse for accidents. 

Especially accidents caused by frequently repeated carelessness, such as drowning a salad in so much dressing that it's inedible. 

Not that any of my angels would ever do such a thing.  

So I was saying...

"The intent or lack thereof is not what is in question...it's the results that we need to address.  A person who causes a car accident might say 'I didn't mean to.'  But that doesn't fix the car...

The Great Depression

Sunday nights are busy around here.  The big kids and the Weatherman do Awana (a church club), and the wee ones and I usually go to the grocery store (if I'm in a very brave mood, and can time it just right)...or we stay home and nap.  Tonight, the planets were in alignment.  We had all had a nap, I had finished feeding the baby, and I had a meal plan and a grocery list made.   So we headed out to the store.  The very happy thing about this is that tomorrow, I can be a pj wearing homebody, an...
